PUSD passed Resolution 2852 to establish "optimal school size" by grade level.

The Board directed the Superintendent to "monitor schools that fall below" a certain enrollment threshold, which would lead to a "District Transformation Plan."
January 2026

The District entered into a $230,000 consulting agreement with Total School Solutions, which specializes in closing schools, to lead the Superintendent Consolidation Advisory Committee (SCAC) meetings.

To date, the SCAC has removed certain schools from the list of schools to be considered for closure.
March 2026

Thurgood Marshall Secondary School, remains under consideration for closure by the SCAC.

The SCAC can recommend to not close schools, to close specific schools, or to delay the process, and will make its final recommendations in May 2026. ​
